Privacy

TripTrack records where you drive. That is about as personal as data gets, so this page says plainly what is kept, where it is kept, and what it takes to make all of it go away.

The short version

  • Trips, photos and statistics live on your iPhone. The app works with no account at all.
  • With sync enabled, your library is stored on our server and can be viewed on this website after Apple sign-in. Web trip creation is not yet available.
  • We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising. The services supporting sign-in, maps and the app are listed below.

What stays on the phone

Every trip — its track, distance, speed, elevation, photos, notes, checkpoints, places, vehicles and the atlas of what you have opened — is stored in a database inside the app on your device. Photos you attach are copied into the app's own folder. None of it is sent anywhere by default.

Delete a trip and it is gone from the phone. Delete the app and everything goes with it, because there is no copy elsewhere unless you made one.

What leaves the phone with Cloud Sync on

Cloud Sync is off until you turn it on and sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a stable identifier and, if you allow it, your name and a relay e-mail address; we never see your Apple password.

With it on, your trips (track, statistics, photos, checkpoints, segments), your vehicles, your journeys and your settings are uploaded so a second device can show the same library. They stay yours: other people see a trip only if you publish it, and a published trip can be unpublished.

Turning Cloud Sync off stops the uploads. «Delete account» in the app erases the server copy and the phone copy in one go, and it cannot be undone.

Crash reports

The app sends crash and error reports to Sentry so that failures get fixed. Reports are scrubbed before they leave the phone: no coordinates, no trip contents, no tokens, no e-mail addresses — the stack, the app version and the device model. Our server reports its own failures the same way and scrubs them the same way: identifiers are stripped out of the request address, and the header your session token travels in is removed before anything leaves.

Cookies and data on this site

This website sets no tracking cookies. No advertising cookies, no profiling cookies, and no third-party tracking tags. The one outside script on the whole site is Apple's, and it loads only on the sign-in page of «My trips» — it is what the Sign in with Apple button is. Our hosting provider may set a short-lived security cookie to tell a browser from a bot; that one is technical, and nothing personal can be read out of it.

Visits are counted with Umami — the stock open-source build, running on our own server at analytics.trip-track.app. It is cookieless: it records the page, the referrer, the country, the browser and the screen size. Your IP address is used only to derive a daily anonymous visit id and is not stored, so a visitor cannot be followed from one day to the next. The «My trips» area is left out of the count entirely: not one address from there is sent, because the address of a trip page is the identifier of that trip.

The «My trips» area keeps two things in your browser's local storage: a session token and a device id, both strictly needed to keep you signed in. They are not analytics and they are never sent anywhere but our own API. Signing out deletes the session token at once. The device id stays, deliberately: it is what makes this browser look like the same device when you sign back in, it says nothing about who you are, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

The map in that area draws its tiles from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). Like any map provider, it sees requests for the area you are looking at. Your trips themselves are never sent there — they are drawn in your browser on top of the tiles.

You can currently view synced trips on this website. Manual creation for PRO is prepared but remains unavailable until a compatible iPhone update. When it opens, new trips will be private in your account. Drafts will stay only in the tab’s memory, so closing or reloading will discard them. Address search and road routing, when configured, send your entered address or waypoints through our server to Geoapify, without your name, email, account token or other trip history. Drawing points does not request road routing. The iPhone home privacy zone is not applied in the web editor; check route endpoints before saving.

There are no advertising or profiling cookies on this website.

Your rights

You can use the app with no account, delete any trip at any time, stop Cloud Sync whenever you like, unpublish anything you published, and delete the account together with everything on the server. All of it is in the app, and none of it requires writing to us first.

If you would rather ask a person — about what is stored, about a copy of your data, or about deleting it — write to the address below. The answer comes from the developer, because there is only one.
